The JAKESTRONG 5K is a local grass-roots fundraising event that started in May, 2011 after Jacob (Jake) Carlino, a 12 year old boy at the time, was diagnosed with Ewing’s Sarcoma, a rare bone cancer.
As Jake continues to courageously fight his battle with cancer, his positive outlook and bravery continue to touch all those that he comes in contact with. It is his wish, and possibly someday, his own mission that all of us can help put an end to this awful disease and prevent other children from walking this path of hardship. Our goal is to raise over $1 million for pediatric cancer research and to date we have raised over $80,000+!
The JAKESTRONG name itself signifies one boy’s mission to involve local communities to help make a difference for all children fighting cancer by building awareness and raising the much needed funds for pediatric cancer research. Won't you join us in this fight and protect our children from this terrible disease?
